In the Mansfield, TX area and everywhere, trauma happens when anything unexpected and unwanted happens to a person which impacts them in such a way they it has a negative emotional and possibly physical result on the individual. This could also result in a domino effect in loss of other relationships, jobs, homes and other important daily functions. The symptoms of stress, extreme anxiety, possibly panic attacks and depression all are conducive to an individual who has suffered: sudden loss, violent loss, scene, episode, abuse or attack.
It becomes complicated because of the duality involved in the loss and the trauma which both must be addressed together and separately. There are talented members of the therapeutic community trained in trauma and anxiety as trauma companions in the Mansfield. TX and surrounding areas and there are also talented members who work with loss. It is important to see the need that these issues are “cousins” if you will and should be addressed as such. A trauma companion trained and experienced in these topics is imperative for this journey. I not only worked with the federal government in crisis management for a long period of time but I have a long history with women who have experienced horrific trauma as well as hospice patients and their families. Trauma hits the very core of a person and exposes each vulnerability. It can take our safety away and make us question the world around us. I consider it a privilege to be a faith based trauma companion with the person experiencing this painful journey.
